The Futurist team is excited to announce that it will be design a new bouldering gym in Vista, CA this fall. The Wall Climbing Gym will be a 9,600-sq-ft facility with 16-ft high bouldering walls protected by 3,000-sq-ft of 16-inch Futurist flooring. Futurist will design the climbing walls as well as the overall facility layout, which will include a retail merchandising shop, a self-serve cafe, a slackline and a yoga studio.
The Wall’s owners, Randy Englekirk and Matt Sawyer represent a new breed of climbing gym owners. Both avid boulderers and surfers, they are young, open-minded and passionate about bringing a high quality gym that offers amazing climbing in a positive atmosphere to their community. If you recognize Randy’s last name, that’s because he’s the nephew of Doug Englekirk, a well-known pioneer of route climbing in the early ‘90s and a former member of the US National Team.
The Wall is scheduled to open Spring 2014. Watch the Futurist website and Facebook page for updates on the project.
